Explanation The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIRBS) groups crimes into three categories:
  • Person crimes, such as assault and manslaughter
  • Property crimes, such as robbery and extortion
  • Society Crimes, such as drug and weapons violations
In Thurston County, property crimes made up the largest proportion of reported incidents (nearly 75%), followed by person crimes (just over 20%).

Prison admissions in Thurston County have risen since 1990. While recent years have seen a decrease in new admissions, readmissions have remained relatively unchanged.
