Thurston County Bicycle Map

 Online Bike Map

This map was designed to help you plan bicycle trips throughout Thurston County. Bike lanes, roads with wide shoulders, and local streets commonly used by bicyclists are highlighted, as well as regional multi-use paths. Highlighted routes do not necessarily indicate a higher level of maintenance than other streets.* You are the best judge of the most suitable routes based on your skill and fitness level, and on your comfort in different traffic situations. Multi-use paths and local streets are generally more comfortable for novice cyclists. Bike lanes and wide shoulders are usually located on busier streets. The speed and volume of traffic will vary depending on the route selected and the time of day.

You may find gaps in the bicycle network on some major routes. In these sections there are neither bike lanes nor wide shoulders, and traffic volumes may be higher. Though experienced cyclists may feel at ease in these areas, less skilled cyclists may want to choose an alternate route.

Bicyclists may use all streets and roads within Thurston County except:

  • the 14th Street Tunnel between Jefferson & Capitol Way in Olympia
  • I-5 from Trosper Road (exit 102) to Martin Way (exit 109)
  • Hwy 101 from I-5 to the Black Lake Interchange
