Planning - Growth Management
In 1990, the Washington State Legislature passed the State Growth Management Act (GMA). It was designed to encourage concentration of growth in the urban areas where adequate public facilities and services exist or can be efficiently provided.
Thurston Regional Planning Council serves as a convener for regional and multijurisdictional growth management discussions. The agency also provides a full range of services to individual jurisdictions through special contracts to help them meet growth management planning objectives.
