REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION CAPABILITIES

Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) carries out a wide array of responsibilities in its role as Metropolitan Planning Organization (federal) and Regional Transportation Planning Organization (state).  Those functions help to ensure a comprehensive, coordinated, and continuing approach to transportation planning across the Thurston region and with adjacent regions. Many of TRPC's on-going functions keep dollars flowing and programs functioning seamlessly, such as the programming of federal funds, maintenance of federal classification systems, and compliance with air quality conformity requirements.  Many other functions, prioritized and directed with input from TRPC's member jurisdictions, add to the region's overall capacity for addressing issues and harnessing opportunities.

PLANNING

TRPC offers a broad array of planning capabilities that are tailored to meet specific needs of the region and its partners.  Current efforts include:

  • Regional transportation planning
  • Rail planning
  • Freight planning
  • Trails planning
  • Tribal transportation plans
  • Transportation and land use integration
  • Corridor planning
  • Special needs coordination
  • Rural lifeline transportation programs
  • Tribal transportation programs
  • Transportation technology planning
  • Incident management planning
  • Trip reduction programs

DATA ANALYSIS & MODELING

Key to its ability to conduct sound planning processes is TRPC's data analysis and modeling program.  Data collection, analysis, surveys, and travel demand models are applied in a variety of applications, including:

  • Long-range regional modeling
  • Corridor simulation
  • Concurrency analysis
  • Local technical support

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

Whether as part of a specific planning process or in response to general information requests, TRPC's ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences is essential for soliciting meaningful public dialogue and informed decision-making.   Presentations, web and print communications, and a variety of involvement techniques are used to support:

  • Stakeholder group processes
  • Meeting facilitation
  • Comprehensive public input processes
  • Community group requests

TRPC's regional transportation program responds to the demanding needs of a dynamic, fast-growing region with products and processes that support effective decision-making.  Contract services are available for specific needs.  See how TRPC's transportation capabilities can work for you.
