Roles and Responsibilities In Thurston County

Jurisdictions: Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm and Thurston County
The jurisdictions within this county are required to administer a CTR program to assist the worksites within their boundaries. Each jurisdiction receives funds from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to implement the program. The jurisdictions have decided to implement a joint program, and have contracted with Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) to administer the program.  Representatives of each jurisdiction meet quarterly to monitor the program.

Contact information for the representatives:

The CTR law requires jurisdictions to develop and adopt a CTR plan and ordinance.  Although both documents must be consistent with the CTR law and the CTR Task Force Guidelines, the jurisdiction can adapt its plan so that it makes sense for the unique characteristics of this region. To see a copy of your jurisdictions ordinance, check out the municipal code with the city's website or call the contact person above.

Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC): On behalf of the jurisdictions, Thurston Regional Planning Council works directly with employers to provide materials and assistance in developing a worksite CTR program. TRPC also helps employers understand the requirements of the law and assists with surveys and annual reports.

TRPC is an intergovernmental board made up of local government jurisdictions within Thurston County. Because Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is a regional tool to manage transportation, TRPC is an important participant in developing CTR policies and programs. TRPC is a source of data and information on transportation, transportation modeling, and land use planning.

The task force is made up of 28 representatives from the affected counties, appointed by the Governor, including business organizations affected by the law, various government and transit agencies and private citizens.
