Transportation - Funding
Paying for the region's transportation system is the single-largest expenditure facing local governments in Thurston County. Revenue is needed for expansions in the system - transit services, roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, and rail - as well as for taking care of the system we already have and rely on. Revenues used to pay for the system come from many different sources, often with "strings" attached to their usage.
TRPC works with local governments and other non-traditional transportation partners to get the most from limited transportation funds, and to look for additional sources of revenue. Often that entails difficult decisions about funding priorities between competing needs. Other times it means looking at new or increased taxes to pay for those needs.
This section contains background information on funding issues and opportunities facing local agencies, as well as up to date information on funding programs administered by TRPC.
