Traffic Modeling

The Thurston Region needs a multimodal travel demand model based on local data to support:

  • Regional transportation planning
  • Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategies
  • State Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) law
  • Traffic impact studies
  • Regional land use and transportation policy evaluation
  • Major transportation system investment studies and funding applications.

As the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Washington State designated Regional Transportation Planning Organization, TRPC is responsible for developing, maintaining, and running the Thurston Regional Travel Demand Model.  We are committed to working with all of our member jurisdictions to provide the highest quality data to support both local and regional modeling needs.

The content of this Traffic Modeling Website is technical and serves a technical audience.  Nevertheless we will be providing a Modeling 101: Explaining the Mystery of the Black Box in the not too distant future.  Please come visit this area again for updates.

If you need additional Information about our modeling efforts, please contact Paul Brewster at  360.956.7575.
