Vanpooling

Vanpooling works great for commuters travelling 15 or more miles one way. Intercity Transit operates a vanpool program for people who live or work in Thurston County. Monthly fees vary, depending on the distance and number of riders. Often there is a designated vanpool coordinator and designated driver or drivers. If you serve one of these roles for your vanpool, you may receive a discount on your vanpool fee.

The CTR Guidelines defines a vanpool as a motor vehicle occupied by seven to 15 people traveling together for their commute trip that results in the reduction of a minimum of one motor vehicle commute trip.

In Thurston County, Intercity Transit can help you find a vanpool for travel within the county or from another county.

To join a vanpool or get one started, contact:

You can sign up for a vanpool operated by Intercity Transit, Pierce Transit or Metro as long as you either live or work in the county of the transit system.
