The Sustainable Thurston Task Force determined that they would meet at TRPC from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Mondays. Following the March 12th meeting, the Task Force will suspend meetings for the remainder of March and through April, in order to focus on public workshops and on-line opportunities to participate in this community-wide conversation that will shape the future of our region.
Role:
The Sustainable Thurston Task Force is an advisory body to the Thurston Regional Planning Council.
They will facilitate a three year community conversation to define this region’s desired future as well as the actions and responsibilities needed to achieve it.

Key Deliverables:
- Draft Regional Plan for Sustainable Development
- Draft Regional Housing Plan (Assisted by the Housing Panel)
- Draft Economic Strategy (Assisted by the Blue Ribbon Economic Panel)
Plan Adoption:
Regional Plans will be adopted by the Thurston Regional Planning Council. Local Jurisdictions are committed to considering including key goals and policies into their local Comprehensive Plan updates or amendments. Amendments will also be considered for the Regional Transportation Plan.
Role of Expert Panels:
Expert panels are developing information about various topics that affect short and long term quality of life in Thurston County. These panels will present information to the Task Force during the fall and winter 2011 - 2012. This background information will identify challenges, some opportunities to overcome challenges, as well as the linkages among topics.
Other Community Input:
Community input is essential as these Plans are developed. The first phase of community-wide discussion will identify a regional vision. Public workshops will be held in early 2012. This will lead to more detailed community discussions in late 2012 and 2013.
Community members are also encouraged to attend regular meetings. All panel and Task Force meetings will have opportunities for public comment.
