Northwest Connections is pleased to announce several changes and additions to our Thurston County services, improving transportation options for riders in Tenino, Rainier, Yelm, and Nisqually. This six- month pilot may require minor adjustments as we move forward. We developed this pilot to improve service for the greatest number of riders while limiting changes for current riders, however, you may need to adjust your schedule.

What is Rural & Tribal Transportation (R/T)?
We provide accessible transportation services for the Nisqually Indian Tribe, the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, the communities of Bucoda, Rainier, Rochester, Tenino, Yelm and other parts of rural Thurston County. R/T provides connections to Intercity Transit in Thurston County and Twin Transit in Lewis County.
Who can use R/T?
Anyone who lives in Thurston County.
When you call, we will ask questions about income and disability, but you do not need to have a low income or special needs to ride.
All R/T vehicles are accessible and lift-equipped.
When can you use R/T?
Generally, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Where do you catch R/T?
We supply pre-scheduled pick up and delivery, with limited after school service in the Rochester area.
What does R/T cost?
- $1.00 per one-way trip.
- R/T accepts Intercity Transit and Twin Transit passes.
How do you use R/T?
To schedule a ride, call 1-800-650-7846 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. weekdays. You can get information and cancel a ride outside those hours.
