Hydrogen Fuel
While there are currently no hydrogen fueling stations in Washington State, Douglas County PUD will be generating hydrogen fuel by end of 2021 and plans are underway to construct a fueling station in Chehalis by early 2022. Local agencies will have to address this emerging energy resource as it becomes more readily available.
- Hydrogen as a fuel source in fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) is considered a zero-emission fuel source.
- Hydrogen tank refueling can be done in as little as 5 minutes making it comparable to gas fuel filling times.
- Hydrogen Fuel Generation – Douglas County PUD is planning to produce hydrogen fuel by mid-2021.
- The first hydrogen refueling station in Washington State is planned for Chehalis, early 2022.
