IT Manager

Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) is seeking a highly motivated IT Manager. This is an opportunity to manage and shape the future of TRPC’s IT systems and services. The IT Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and is a member of the agency management team. As the IT Manager, you will exercise a high degree of independent judgement in managing the agency’s IT systems.

ABOUT TRPC

TRPC is a Regional Transportation Planning Organization and Metropolitan Planning Organization with approximately 20 staff members and is governed by a 23-member intergovernmental board.  Located in Olympia, Washington, TRPC is approximately 60 miles south of Seattle and 120 miles north of Portland, Oregon. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

For the position of IT Manager, the candidate will have at a minimum:

  • A bachelor’s degree or associate degree in computer science or information technology or closely related field.
  • Five years of hands-on progressively responsible experience in IT such as IT management, systems administration, network administration, and/or cybersecurity.

Or

  • Any demonstrated combination of experience and education, which provides the applicant with the required knowledge and abilities.

THE POSITION

The IT Manager position is an exempt at-will position operating under minimal supervision. This position exercises considerable professional judgement and has a high level of responsibility and independence in the design, operation, management, cybersecurity, and maintenance of the agency’s network, IT services and associated technology. Tasks may include:

  • The design, procurement, implementation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of agency IT systems and services
  • Managing agency cybersecurity 
  • Network and system administration, including monitoring, securing, tuning, updating, and configuring systems and services to ensure performance, security, and reliability
  • Managing agency cloud services
  • Managing the annual IT budget, directing strategic IT objectives and procurement, working with vendors
  • Providing user support 

A successful candidate could expect to:

  • Work under minimal supervision 
  • Work within a team environment
  • Juggle multiple tasks and competing deadlines

SALARY

The salary range for the IT Manager position is $7,323 - $9,147 per month.  Salary placement within the range is dependent on qualifications.
