Building Space

Data Table

Explanation

Between 2014 and 2017, the square footage of government- and privately-owned offices, retail, service, and industrial uses increased by more than 3.5 million square feet (7.7%). Industrial uses saw the largest increase in building space as distribution centers continue to be built in the region.

The floor area attributable to government-owned office buildings increased at a faster rate (6.7%) than private offices (2.7%), likely due to the State moving from leasing office space to building it.

This is not a complete inventory of commercial/industrial building space; only select uses are shown. This data excludes building space for education, community centers, hospitals, bowling alleys, motels and hotels not on tribal lands, and other specialized uses.
