LEP persons do not speak English as their primary language and have no ability or are limited in their ability to read, write, speak or understand English.
During TRPC planning processes that involve a high concentration of LEP residents, the Council will translate vital documents, materials and meeting content, as needed. Oral translation services will be provided at meetings, as needed.
A vital document is any that is critical for ensuring meaningful access to TRPC's major activities and programs. Whether or not a document (or the information it solicits) is "vital" may depend upon the importance of the program, information, encounter, or service involved, and the consequence to the LEP person if the information in question is not provided accurately or in a timely manner.
